What Pains Have I Overcome?

I believe that I had been an overeater for most of my life. Now, I still eat a good amount of food these days, but different than I used to. For most of my life, I just ate whenever I wanted to. Snacked multiple times per day, ate large meals, and usually some type of snack (usually cereal) at night, close to bed time.

As the years went by, and I got into my 30’s, my chest and belly fat started accruing. I began to have headaches multiple times per week that usually kept me from putting in a quality workout in the evening time after work. I also started to realize that I was experiencing vertigo type symptoms when I would get up from sitting, or laying down.

All of these symptoms were becoming so common to me that I was just about to go to the doctor. I just new something was wrong with me. My mother had been diagnosed with a mild case of Multiple Sclerosis, my brother had Crones, and several other autoimmune diseases ran in my family. I just figured surely, it must be my time to get the diagnosis of something?

While these thoughts were in the back of my mind, I never really have been the type of person to go to the doctor for much. That may, or may not be a good thing, but it’s just the way I am. I believe it served me well in this case! I began digging into what would cause these symptoms, instead of searching for a pill to fix them.

My research took me down the path of functional, and ancestral health. I learned that the way I move, eat, and interact with the world has more influence on my health than my hereditary traits.

My Purpose

After only a few months of making changes to my lifestyle, I started noticing profound changes in my headaches, and feelings of vertigo.

After the first year, I lost nearly 30 pounds of fat, exercising less than I ever have in my life!

Today (nearly 10 years after the start of my journey), I am at around 8% body fat, only have a headache if I get into something I know I shouldn’t (like breathing chemicals), vertigo is a faint memory, and I satisfy myself with great tasting, nourishing foods within a sensible eating window!

My life has taken a new path, rooted in optimizing my health, happiness, and longevity by simply making changes to the things that I am already doing everyday like: Moving, Eating, Breathing, Interacting With Life, Sleeping, and Living Life!
